Lizi Sánchez explores the processes, contexts, and intentions that shape discourse and the stories we tell. Scientific, poetic, or everyday phrases and texts often give rise to works that unfold multiple layers of meaning, intertwining the rational with the emotional. In recent years, writing and its possibilities have been a recurring focus in her practice, and she has worked primarily with expanded drawing and sound, proposing fragmented and non-linear traces. Sánchez lives and works in London and has exhibited internationally in galleries and institutions such as the Instituto Cultural Peruano Norteamericano, Peru; Whitechapel Gallery, UK; Studio Voltaire, UK; Drawing Room, UK; Walker Art Gallery, UK; Oriel Davies Gallery, UK, among others. Recent projects include an artistic research residency at the British Museum (2025).
Her work is featured in Remains–Tomorrow: Themes in Contemporary Latin American Abstraction, edited by Cecilia Fajardo-Hill (Hatje Cantz, December 2022). She holds an MFA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths College, London, UK (2007) and is a co-founder of Museo en Residencia, a small-scale, cooperative, itinerant museum (2020–present).
